Veriff has had FaceBlock functionality for some time, and now we have also provided customers on Enterprise and Premium Plans with the ability to control their own blocklist, giving you complete control and enabling you to add and remove facial biometrics from your custom blocklist quickly.
In order to achieve this, there are two ways to access the FaceBlock feature i.e:
Using FaceBlock Manager in Veriff Station, and
Via the Verification Sessions page in Veriff Station
How to Use FaceBlock Manager
You can follow the steps below to access FaceBlock Manager.
Log into Veriff Station and you will see a new tool called FaceBlock added to your main screen underneath the Verifications filters, as in the image below:
FaceBlock List View
By accessing/clicking FaceBlock you will see a screen that shows all verification attempts added into the FaceBlock - if there are any. If any, they might have been added by Veriff upon your request or by your team using FaceBlock in Veriff Station.
Please keep in mind that if there are no previously added attempts, the list will be empty.
In the current version of FaceBlock, you can only view the face image photos by clicking on the “Source” link, which will take you to the attempted details page. This option is only for sessions that have not yet been archived.
N.B. It is planned to show face image photos within FaceBlock in future iterations.
Permissions
On advanced permissions, FaceBlock can be configured separately using the "Access to FaceBlock" permission and is by default available for the following roles:
Owner
Developer
Support specialist
On standard permissions it is available for the following roles:

Adding a face to FaceBlocklist
There are two ways to add faces to be blocklisted, i.e:
Using the Add Faces Button, and
Using the Verification attempt / session page
Using the Add Faces Button
Within the FaceBlock tool in Veriff Station, you will see a button on the far right: + Add faces.
Clicking on the Add Faces button will take you to a new screen where you can Enter attempt IDs 🔽
This step ensures that the faces from previous attempts are added to the blocklist. You can add multiple faces to the blocklist by adding multiple attempt IDs. Please note that you should separate the attempt IDs with a space.
Using the Verification attempt / session page
This step is also as simple as the previous one:
Login to Veriff Station, and choose an attempt or a session that you would like to add to the blocklist.
Once you've clicked on an attempt or a session, you will see “
...
” on the far right following the status of the session - the attempt ID and the 3 dots(...
)Please see the example on the snippet below 🔽
Once clicked on the … button, you will have two options if enabled:
Add to FaceBlock and
Add session status
When you click on the Add to FaceBlock, there will be a screen prompt asking for a confirmation to avoid any mistakes (see image below). Click on the Confirm button, and the face from that attempt/session will be added to the blocklist.
How to Remove Faces From FaceBlocklist
Similar to adding the faces to the blocklist, there are two ways of removing faces i.e:
Using the remove from FaceBlock option, or
Using the Verification attempt/session page
Using the Remove from FaceBlock button
Go to the FaceBlock tool from the Veriff Station homepage, on the blocklist view, select the entry from the left sidebar, and the button Remove from FaceBlock will be activated.
If you want to remove all the faces select all the entries to choose all the faces to be removed from the blocklist, this face data won’t be used during blocklist lookup (shown in the snippet below 🔽)
After selecting the faces to be removed from the list, the user making the FaceBlock changes will be asked for a confirmation to avoid any mistakes or human errors.
Using the Verification attempt/session page
This step is similar to adding faces to the blocklist. Login to Veriff Station, and choose an attempt or a session to remove the face data from the blocklist. Once clicked on an attempt or a session, the users will see “...
” on the far right following the status of the session - the attempt ID and the … Please check the example on the snippet below 🔽
Once clicked on the "...
" button, the users will have two options if enabled: Remove from FaceBlock and Add session status. When you click on Remove from FaceBlock, there will be a screen prompt asking you to confirm and avoid any mistakes (see below). Click on the Confirm button, and the face from that attempt/session will be removed from the face blocklist.
Please keep in mind that you will receive an error message if something goes wrong or a small confirmation notification if successful.
Search by face
FaceBlock gives you the ability to search the blocked faces using a photo. You can do this by uploading an image or dragging it to the window. Please keep in mind that adding faces by uploading pictures will be released later, this feature is only for searching for faces. The below snippet will be shown and you will have to follow the steps
Once this screen pops up, click Browse files and choose the image to be uploaded
*This is just an example of how and what you can upload.
Once the image is chosen and uploaded, you will see a similar screen as in below example:
Please keep in mind that the attempt ID or image ID will be populated only if it was entered.
In the snippet below, you can see the Date, Image ID, Source, Person Name, Vendor Data (if added), Added By, and Match. The columns will display the relevant data if there is any. For the Search results, the Match column will have a percentage indicating the matching probability based on the face template data (example below).
How to Export Data
If you would like to export the data of the faces that are added to FaceBlock, you will have to click on the button that is on the far right: Export as .csv
By clicking on the button, the file with all blocked faces metadata will be compiled and downloaded to your computer. The downloaded file will be in the format of FaceBlock-Date-.csv as in image above. Please keep in mind that currently, this is the only format to download all the data as a file.
