Understanding Data Retention Policies for Veriff Plans
Veriff's data retention policies vary depending on the subscription plan you choose. Here's a detailed overview of how data retention works for Self-Serve and Enterprise plans and whether retention durations can be customized.
1. Data Retention for Self-Serve Plans
Default Retention Period
On standard Self-Serve plans without additional features, session data is retained for 3 months. After this period, the data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Self-Serve plans do not support an archival system.
Biometric Data Retention
Biometric data for Self-Serve plans is retained for 6 months and subsequently archived for an additional 6 months. After the archival period, this data is completely deleted.
Extending the Retention Duration
Retention durations for session data can be extended to up to 2 years by adding the Extended Data Retention Add-On to your subscription.
Data Deletion Requests
While retention durations are generally fixed, clients have the option to request the deletion of specific session data at any time by providing the relevant session details.
2. Data Retention for Enterprise Plans
For businesses requiring extended data retention, the Enterprise plan offers greater flexibility.
The retention period can be extended to 8 years through direct customization. This requires entering into a commercial discussion, and extended data retention terms are typically negotiated as part of the Enterprise agreement.
3. Important Notes on Customization
Self-Serve plans have limited customization options. The retention timelines are pre-determined unless the Extended Data Retention Add-On is enabled.
Enterprise plans allow significant customization based on contractual agreements, including the option for extended retention periods up to 8 years.
Common Questions
Why can’t I recover an old session on my Self-Serve plan?
Sessions are not archived under the standard Self-Serve plan. After the data retention period of 3 months expires, sessions are permanently deleted.
By understanding these data retention policies, you can select the right plan for your business needs while ensuring compliance with your data management requirements. For further assistance, reach out to Veriff support.
